چکیده

the association may be explained if vasopressin degradation products retain their pressor activity but lose their antidiuretic activity. Another theory proposes that decreased vasopressinase metabolism due to pre-existent liver disease results in increased vasopressinase activity and increased vasopressin degradation. Patients with DI need access to fluids containing free water. The oral intake of pregnant women is restricted in most obstetric departments, which makes intravenous fluid management essential. Because of their inability to concentrate urine, patients cannot prevent hyperosmolality without the administration of high amounts of free water. LDDV, a vasopressin analogue with a different amino terminal that makes it resistant to vasopressinase, may be administered. No maternal or fetal adverse effects of LDDV have been reported during pregnancy. Moreover, LDDV has no pressor effect, which is important because of the association of DI with preeclampsia.

[Liver abscess caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae in diabetic patients].

Pyogenic liver abscess are macroscopic collections of pus within the hepatic parenchyma after a bacterial infection. These infections are usually polymicrobial in nature, and in most occasions due to biliary tract diseases or cryptogenetic in origin. Monomicrobial hepatic abscess caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae are uncommon lesions in western countries. These lesions are associated with underly...

Liver abscess caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae in siblings.

Klebsiella pneumoniae has been emerging as the leading cause of liver abscess in diabetic patients. Results of molecular typing of K. pneumoniae isolates from two siblings with liver abscess, their family members, and the environment suggest a possibility of cross infection of liver abscess by the fecal-oral route within diabetic patients.

Primary Liver Abscess Caused by One Clone of Klebsiella pneumoniae with Two Colonial Morphotypes and Resistotypes

Two diabetic patients with primary liver abscess, who initially responded unsatisfactorily to intravenous ceftriaxone or cefoxitin treatment and had abscess drainage, were found to be infected with a single clone of Klebsiella pneumoniae with two different colonial morphotypes and resistotypes. Primary liver abscess caused by second-generation cephalosporin-resistant K. pneumoniae strains may b...

Recurrent Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess in a diabetic patient followed by Streptococcus bovis endocarditis--occult colon tumor plays an important role.

Klebsiella pneumoniae is the leading cause of liver abscess in diabetic patients in Taiwan. We report the case of a diabetic patient with a history of four episodes of K. pneumoniae liver abscess within 3 years. The patient later developed Streptococcus bovis bacteremia originating from a colon tumor with complications of endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and silent splenic abscess. Occult colon tum...

Septic metastatic endophthalmitis complicating Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess in a non-diabetic Chinese man.

Septic metastatic endophthalmitis is a rare but serious disease. Endophthalmitis arising from Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess has been reported with diabetes mellitus as a major associated condition, but is rarely seen in patients without diabetes. A non-diabetic patient with liver abscess complained of right eye discomfort and floaters 3 days after admission. Both blood and liver aspirate ...

The emergence of Klebsiella pneumoniae liver abscess in non-diabetic patients and the distribution of capsular types

BACKGROUND Klebsiella pneumoniae is the most common pathogen of community-acquired pyogenic liver abscess in East Asia. Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a well-established risk factor for K. pneumoniae liver abscess (KPLA). However, reports regarding the emergence of KPLA in non-diabetic patients are limited. RESULTS A total 230 patients with KPLA from a medical center in Taiwan were identified retr...
